Analysis of the Energy Storage Converter Industry Chain: The upstream of the domestic electrochemical energy storage industry chain is raw materials, the midstream is core component manufacturing and system integrator, and the downstream is system operation and application. Among them, the core component manufacturing of the midstream energy storage system is mainly divided into two parts: battery and system. The upstream of the energy storage converter is mainly composed of IGBT, printed circuit board, and wires and cables. The midstream of the energy storage converter is a power frequency boost energy storage converter and a high-voltage direct mounted energy storage converter. Downstream of the energy storage converter are wind and solar power plants, photovoltaic power plants, power grid systems, substations, etc.、

The upstream raw materials of energy storage converters mainly include power electronic components such as IGBT, capacitors, resistors, reactors, PCBs, cabinets, chassis, and other auxiliary materials. Among them, IGBT (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor) is the core component, and the performance of IGBT determines the performance of energy storage converters. The competition in the upstream industry of energy storage converters is relatively strong. Except for IGBT, which is still mainly imported, other major power electronic components have basically achieved localization. The cost of structural components and auxiliary materials is mainly related to their material costs, which are mainly affected by fluctuations in commodity prices. In energy storage converters, the material cost accounts for about 93%, with the highest proportion being structural components (26.7%), followed by inductors (13.8%) and semiconductor components (11.4%)


2. The midstream energy storage converter is a provider of energy storage converters, responsible for the research and development, production, and sales of PCS. The midstream mainly provides energy storage converters that are suitable for various application scenarios. There are certain technical barriers between PCS corresponding to different scenarios, and the short-term competition level is relatively low. However, in the long run, PCS will face competition pressure from various sub sectors of the energy storage industry. Energy storage converter products can be divided into two categories: string type and centralized type. The string type is mainly applied to small and medium-sized energy storage systems, while the centralized type is applied to large energy storage systems. There are significant differences in the requirements for the functions and performance parameters of energy storage converters among different application scenarios, so different types of energy storage converters need to be applied for different scenarios. Benefiting from the high demand for distributed photovoltaics and the trend of large-scale string power, the penetration rate of string inverters is expected to rapidly increase. Centralized energy storage converters are mostly used on the power generation side, and in the supporting energy storage systems on the power grid side, the installed capacity of this energy storage system is relatively large and has a certain scale to cover the comprehensive construction cost. The corresponding market demand is also more. This type of energy storage system is often involved in peak shaving, frequency regulation and other power grid services, and the energy storage converters are mostly integrated with other modules inside the container, resulting in higher single machine power. The new installation of centralized energy storage is expected to bring high-power PCS demand.
